BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 12.8 high-voltage battery with BCU 2.0

The BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS is a modular, cobalt-free high-voltage energy storage system based on lithium iron phosphate for domestic and small-scale commercial applications. An HVS system consists of 2 to 5 modules connected in series (5.1 to 12.8 kWh capacity) and can be expanded to up to 38.4 kWh by connecting three identical towers in parallel. The patented plug-in system enables simple, quick installation and subsequent expansion. The system is characterised by high efficiency and backup functionality. It meets strict safety standards and is compatible with leading single- and three-phase Inverters. When it comes to charging and discharging power, however, BYD remains true to form. Each battery can also deliver its rated capacity as power – i.e. 1C. This makes the new series ideally suited for on-grid, on-grid plus backup and off-grid systems.

Complications may arise when connecting BCU 1.0 and BCU 2.0 in parallel. For the installation of the MC4 connectors, the use of a hydraulic crimping tool with a crimping head is recommended. Furthermore, for correct commissioning, it is essential to install the supplied terminating resistor (in the COM-IN for single operation), as otherwise communication errors will occur and the BCU will not recognise the modules.
